Nodding Off In Parliament by Lesley Rosochodski

Features

ARTIST NOTES: Inspired by a pair of Boobook Owls I met at a wildlife sanctuary. I reimagined these beautiful birds as though seen against a sky lit by a metallic silver moon. The painting captures both the mystical feeling and the character of the birds. Created on a contemporary, soft grey Belgian linen, to lend the feel of a sky glowing in moonlight.

ARTIST BIO

Nature is the driving force in my art. As an artist living in regional Victoria, I am intensely conscious of the fragile beauty of the environment and the wildlife in my surroundings. That is why I now focus mainly on nature art. My oil paintings capture the moments, stories and characters of the animals which I have observed in the natural world. Lately I am also drawn to placing birds and animals in landscapes, which I observe in my surroundings.

I paint realistically to convey the reality of all life and the importance every living thing. In order to portray animals realistically, I work with care to build the fine details, layers of colours and subtle tones which capture their life like personas.

I also speak through my art to convey a message of conservation. Because of my support of animal rescue groups, I have met rescuers and orphaned or injured animals. Their stories have concerned me so greatly that they have become the impetus for much of my art. Whilst each of my paintings are based on life, I often add elements of imagination, humour  or pathos; for the animal world is full of all of these.

My paintings can be found around Australia and overseas, and I welcome commissions.
